2022 Fall Events to lookout for in Howard County

Howard County Fair (September 19-23, 2022)
A fall tradition for over 50 years, the fair offers rides, games, and food vendors as well as live entertainment such as country music star Travis Tritt. It’s a great way to end your summer!
Howard County Dog Festival (October)
The Howard County Dog Festival is one of the best ways to spend an afternoon in October. This event takes place at the Howard County fairgrounds, and it features competitions for dogs of all sizes, breeds, and ages. You can bring your own four-legged friend along to enjoy this festival too!
If you’re looking for something more traditional than a dog show, then check out the Festival of the Harvest festival that takes place at Cranberry Park in Columbia. There will be food vendors selling tasty treats like kettle corn and caramel apples, as well as face-painting stations where kids can get their faces painted with pumpkins and other fall-themed designs. For those with children who are too young to attend without supervision (or who just want some alone time), there will be cooking demos available throughout the day so they can learn how to make their own delicious treats at home later on!
Howard County Harvest Festival (October 2-4, 2022)
This annual festival features food trucks with all kinds of tasty treats from around the world as well as live performances by local musicians including 90s boy band Hanson!
Oktoberfest (October 1, 2022)
Oktoberfest is a German festival held in the fall. It’s a celebration of beer and food, and it’s family-friendly! The Howard County version of this event will take place at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, Maryland. It’s one way to celebrate Oktoberfest if you’re not making it to Munich this year.
There will be plenty of vendors selling all kinds of things—from clothing to jewelry to home decor items—as well as food trucks and live music! There will also be a kid’s zone with games, rides, and activities for parents who may want to take advantage of those opportunities so they can do some shopping themselves or just enjoy some adult time without their children around (if that makes sense).
FestiFall (September 28 – October 20, 2022)
The Columbia Town Center hosts another kind of fall festival from September 28 through October 20th: FestiFall (also sponsored by Kooper’s Hot Dogs). This event features more than 60 artists from around the world representing traditional arts like pottery making; contemporary art such as paintings on canvas; African drumming; calligraphy by Chinese master calligrapher Mr. Wang Jianjun; spoken word performances by local poets; and other performances throughout each day including live music on Fridays beginning at 6 pm with free admission all three days except Friday night when tickets are sold separately depending on what acts are performing that evening.
Columbia Fall Festival (October 22, 2022)
If you want to enjoy a fall festival in Columbia, the Columbia Fall Festival is the place to go. The festival offers family-friendly activities including a pumpkin patch, corn maze, hayride, and more.
As an added bonus, Columbia has its own Oktoberfest festival that’s held every September at the Howard County Fairgrounds. Enjoy German food, drink, and music along with dancing as you celebrate autumn!
Howard County Arts Walk (November 11-12, 2022)
The Howard County Arts Council is hosting the Howard County Arts Walk. This event will feature more than 60 artists, whose works will be displayed in private homes and businesses throughout the county. The Arts Council has also planned musical performances, lectures, workshops, and other activities at various locations.
Fall Festival (November 18-20, 2022)
Howard County’s annual fall event, Fall Festival at Ellicott City, takes place this weekend, Nov. 18-20. The festival is a three-day celebration of arts and culture featuring local artists, crafters, and musicians as well as food vendors and craft beer tastings.
Enchanted Forest Festival of Trees (November 18 to December 10, 2022)
The Enchanted Forest Festival of Trees is a great event for the whole family. The festival features over 100,000 Christmas trees and other holiday decorations, including a variety of activities for kids and adults.
In addition to being an opportunity to celebrate the season with friends and family, this charitable event benefits local charities—so you can enjoy yourself while giving back!
Holly Jolly Jubilee (December 3 and 4, 2022)
This is a family-friendly event that includes carnival rides, a petting zoo, live music, and entertainment by local artists and performers. There will also be concessions available for purchase throughout the afternoon.
If you plan on bringing your furry friend along with you beware that dogs are not allowed inside any buildings during Holly Jolly Jubilee but there will be plenty of space outside where they can roam around freely without any restrictions!
