You could even shave a few minutes off by using the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (I-295) or Route 50 if you’re headed eastbound.

There are two major airports in Howard County: Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) and Columbia Regional Airport (CBO). The former is about 27 miles away from Columbia and takes about 20 minutes to reach via Interstate 95; the latter is just over 20 miles away and takes roughly 25 minutes to reach via Interstate 70 or U.S. Route 29 South into Ellicott City (the main road connecting BWI with downtown Baltimore).

BWI Airport is a major airport in Maryland and is a hub for Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines. The airport offers nonstop flights to over 100 destinations on each of these airlines.

The airport is about 30 miles from Columbia, MD. A trip from Columbia to BWI can take anywhere from at least an hour (if you drive during rush hour) to around 30 minutes (if you’re willing to pay the tolls).
