What Should be Included in a Custom Home Build
Building a custom home can be exciting and fun, but it can also be expensive and exhausting. I’ve built a few houses in my day, and I’ve noticed that certain things are always worth adding to the house. These things can include something like a doggie door or an exercise room with weights. It’s important to consider these things before building the house so you don’t regret anything later on.
A Magnetic Light to Help Get Things Off the Counter
Another great accessory is a magnetic light to help get things off the counter. Magnetic lights are easy to install and can be used to hold other kitchen tools, mail, and other papers, keys, or small tools. They are also very useful for hanging knives in an organized way so you never have to worry about losing them again!
A Walk-in Pantry to Store Lots of Food
If you’re building a home, there are many things to consider, but one that should not be overlooked is your walk-in pantry. We all know how important food is in our lives: it brings us joy and comfort and is necessary for survival. Your custom home should allow you to enjoy your food without the hassle of running out and buying more when it runs out. A walk-in pantry can help with this by giving you plenty of storage space not only for nonperishables but also for perishable foods like fresh produce or dairy products.
In addition to storing food safely and efficiently, a walk-in pantry is also a great way of showcasing your creativity as an interior designer! You can create an organized system where everything has its place—from canned goods to spices or even cleaning supplies—and then add some decorative touches like painted walls or custom shelving units made from reclaimed wood. This allows homeowners who have limited space still have access to everything they need while creating their dream kitchen!
A Smart Home to Control Everything with your Phone or Tablet
A smart home is a must-have for any modern home build. Smart technologies allow you to interact with your house using your phone or tablet, and make life easier in so many ways. For example, if you want to turn off the lights from bed, simply tell Alexa (the virtual assistant built into Amazon Echo devices) that it’s time for bed. Or if you’re cooking dinner but realize the light switch is in another room, just ask Siri what time it is—and then issue a command like “Turn on the kitchen light.” You can even schedule lights to turn on automatically when people come into the house!
Smart homes also save money by monitoring energy usage and adjusting themselves accordingly. A great example of this technology is Nest; they sell thermostats that learn how long it takes for your house to reach set temperatures after being turned up or down by certain amounts of degrees. The Nest will then adjust itself according to these habits so as not to waste energy heating/cooling an empty home all day long! Smart homes are a great way to be more comfortable and productive in our own space while saving money at the same time!
Magnifying Mirror in the Master Bath
A magnifying mirror is a must-have for any bathroom. You can use it to apply makeup, shave and do your hair. You can find one in any store or online and they are cheap and easy to install!
A Bathroom for Each Bedroom for Privacy
A bathroom for each bedroom is important to give privacy, but it’s also important to avoid the smell of other people’s bathrooms and the sound of other people using their bathrooms. You don’t have to have a master bath and guest bath combination for each room, but you should at least have one vanity per bedroom.
A Fireplace for Winter and Christmas Seasons
A fireplace is a great way to stay warm in the winter, and it’s also a beautiful addition to any home. Fireplaces are especially popular during Christmas time and can make for some great holiday photos.
An Exercise Room with Equipment and Weights so You Don’t Need to go to the Gym
You don’t have to be a competitive bodybuilder or a high-level athlete to reap the benefits of having your exercise room. This room can include any equipment you need for strength training, cardio exercise, and flexibility training. If you’re in it for the long haul, consider investing in some weights as well—even if you rarely use them anymore. You still might want access to that option when you’re feeling particularly motivated (or bored).
The main benefit of having an exercise room is that it allows you to work out at home without needing extra transportation or any special clothing—just get on with your workout! Plus, if there’s one thing I’ve learned from working out at gyms over the years: They stink. If possible, try not going more than once per week unless necessary (and even then…maybe reconsider).
A Game Room with a Pool Table, Ping Pong, and Video Games
One of the best things about your custom home is that it will be made to fit your needs, so why not customize it with a game room? A game room can be an excellent place to entertain family and friends. You could include a pool table, ping pong table, and video games! It’s a place where people of all ages can get together and enjoy themselves.
If you choose to include any of these items in your custom home build, make sure there is space for them and that they are easily accessible by everyone.
Don’t Build a House Without a Basement
Beware of houses that don’t have one; you’ll be surprised at how much storage space and workspace a basement can provide. If you’re not going to use it as a playroom or family room, I recommend turning it into an office! It’s great for storing all your important files, computer equipment, and other things you need to store but don’t want to lie around for anyone else to see (or borrow).
Conclusion
I think what we’ve learned here is that every custom home should have these things in it. If you’re going to build a house, be sure to include them so you’ll love the place where you live.
